Ernst Albert Tietjen
Histories
Note: We hope to add to this collection and include
transcript of each of the histories here. If you have histories to
contribute, or if you can help with transcribing or clearing
copyrights, please contact me.
Special: As part of reprinting, Gary Tietjen has made the
text of his book available to the website. This includes individual
histories of Ernst, his wives, and all their children. I plan to add
these to the web page in the coming months. Contact me if you need
something earlier (see above).
Parents
- "Tietjen,"
in Santaquin "Through the Years," 1856–1956: Santaquin
Centennial History, 169; Ernst's parents, August Henery and Ida
Fredrica Kruger Tietjen.
- Ida Fredraca Kruger Tietjen, "A
Life Sketch of Ida Fredraca Kruger Tietjen: To Be Read by Her Grand
Children Who May Be Living in the Year of Jubilee 1930," Brigham
Young University Special Collections; transcript by Ben Parkinson.
Different versions of this 3-page autobiographical sketch are available
in "Kate B. Carter, ed., Our Pioneer Heritage (Salt Lake City:
Daughters of Utah Pioneers, 1958), 1:50–52; also Our Pioneer
Heritage (1964), 8:219-22; also in Historical Department Archives,
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (two versions as I
recall, one possibly an original).
- "Henry Roland Tietjen," in T. Earl Pardoe, The Sons of Brigham
(Provo, Utah: Brigham Young University Alumni Association, 1969),
491-93; brief but interesting details on his grandparents, Ernst's
parents. (Says they left Sweden with a barrel of gold but spent it to
bring other Saints along.)
Ernst

Albert Tietjen: Missionary and Colonizer (Bountiful, Utah:

wives and kids. Note: Gary submitted a typescript with similar
text to the Historical Department Archives, The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints; available on microfilm there.
Note: Gary Tietjen has authorized a small reprinting of
this book, and I have been helping with the typesetting. Write Ben Parkinson,
webmaster of parkinsonfamily.org,
if you would be interested in having copies. We can do a much better
quality and more
economical reprint if enough of the cousins respond.
